While travelling solo for the first time can be a bit daunting, now more than ever over 30s are making their own way on holiday and shaking any notion of being ‘on the shelf’ as they explore, cook, surf, and dance in amazing locations around the globe.
As well as getting out and trying something new and exciting, travelling solo is also a great chance to meet like-minded people who are just as curious as you are to try something new, in a relaxed and fun environment.
Holiday courses make ideal singles trips and in fact over 80% of all those taking a GoLearnTo.com holiday do so independently. And most of those who go on a solo holiday wish they had done it earlier.
We know that travelling solo can seem daunting, so that’s why we thought we’d lend you a helping hand by answering those little questions you’ve all wondered before you travel…
So what really is a singles holiday?
It’s not a matchmaking holiday. Sorry if that’s what you’re looking for! Instead our singles holidays are carefully selected holidays from our wide range that we believe to be perfect for solo travellers.
Do only solo travellers go on your singles holidays?
Our singles holidays are for anyone and everyone! They are no exclusively for solo travellers, and friends and couples are also welcome to join the holiday so you will have a great mixture of people to socialise with.
What will the other people be like?
They will be a mix of ages and from all over the UK, Europe, and Australasia and from all walks of life. Our singles holidays are popular with other like-minded singles you’ll share a common interest in the activity you’re doing and will all be willing to take a risk and have fun!
What sort of singles holiday should I go on?
GoLearnTo.com offer a huge range of activities for singles to choose from – whether you’re looking to learn a new skill or hone an existing one, we’ll have something to suit you. Discover your inner chef on a cooking holiday, surf the waves on a surf and yoga break, relax and unwind on a yoga holiday, learn a new language, or unleash your creative side on a jewellery making holiday.
What if I like spending time on my own sometimes?
That’s not a problem! The idea of our singles holidays is for solo travellers to meet great new friends, but of course it is still your holiday. You can enjoy a sociable week with plenty of time to do your own thing too so you get the best of both worlds.
Will I have to share a room?
We realise that everyone is different. That’s why we offer a mixture of room options to suit every solo travellers – so if you like your own space, we suggest our holiday with no single supplements bringing you the luxury of having a private room without being financially penalised for travelling solo. We also offer a range of shared rooms for some holidays, where you share with guests of the same gender. This is a fantastic way to ensure you meet lovely new friends during your holiday and really helps to make your holiday a social extravaganza.

Felicity -aged 33
Felicity went on our fantastic surf and yoga holiday in Baleal, Portugal and stayed in our superior surf camp and loved staying in the more luxury camp at Baleal and meeting her new friends during fun yoga and surf classes:
This was a super holiday, I was worried that it would be very cold in Portugal in November, but need not have worried. I would recommend this experience to anyone interested in having a fun holiday and making new friends. Top surf school, and a great course combo.
Manish – aged 39
Manish couldn’t have enjoyed his Spanish and photography holiday in Jaco Beach, Costa Rica any more -he learnt two fantastic new skills, stayed in a student residence with other students and loved the social atmosphere of the school:
Loved it. I have been using what I learnt at the course ever since. And I made some great friends. I am so happy I signed up for the trip/course… Thank you.
Anna – aged 38
Anna indulged her passion for fine cuisine and wines on our French cooking and wine holiday in Gascony, France where the food, company, culture and breathtaking location left her wanting more…
I attended the course on my own and I could have not chosen a more friendly and caring holiday destination! David and Vikki, and the French chef Bernard, are true stars in both making you feel at home and teaching you cooking in true French spirit. I left with a great smile & can’t wait to go back
