The Spanish

Over the course of seven days, students are grouped with others of their level — whether that’s a complete beginner or an advanced Spanish speaker — and given 20 immersive language lessons taught by highly qualified Spanish tutors. The mornings are spent in the classroom focusing on the four key aspects of learning a language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Then afternoons are completely free to join in the planned activities or to explore the island… read on to find about the activities the school offers along with their Spanish courses.

The activities

While the main reason students arrive is to improve their Spanish, they can also add activities and excursions to the mix. For a week of Spanish and windsurfing, mornings will be spent in the classroom, and afternoons in the water, maximising the lovely weather and allowing students to leave with two great skills.

Alternatively, adding some Latin flair is made simple by joining the school’s Spanish and Latin dance holiday. Again, students speak Spanish in the a.m., then don their dancing shoes for afternoon classes that let them participate in the lively evening dance events around town.

On top of these, at least three activities or excursions are planned each week from watersports to horseback riding to cultural tours of the local area.

The location

Sosua rests on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Consisting of around 12,000 locals, it’s a small, relaxed beach town that’s known for its great beaches and scuba diving. Meanwhile, the town of Cabarete, about 15 minutes away, is known for its kite and windsurfing.

Sosua has enough cafes, bars, discos, and restaurants to ensure that nights are as action-packed as days, and the relaxed island vibe makes a stay in the town an unforgettable holiday break.
