Having spent my summer in Mongolia, and with a trip to Eastern Africa planned in October, I had seriously caught the travel bug, so when I saw an advert titled: ‘Calling all budding travel journalists’ on WEXO.com, how could I not apply? With a passion for writing which has resulted in me writing for a wide range of topics (from polo to fashion to a publication named, somewhat bizarrely, ‘The Monthly Moose’), this looked like the perfect opportunity, and before I knew it my CV was flying through cyber-space towards the inbox of GoLearnTo.com.
Fast forward two months and I find myself knocking on the door of the GoLearnTo office, to be greeted by the rest of the extremely friendly team, who quickly helped me to feel right at home and had me navigating the GoLearnTo website like a pro.
Over the past month I’ve found myself writing about locations such as Essaouira and Casperia, which a month ago could have been in Outer Mongolia for all I knew, but now seem as familiar as the back of my hand. I now also like to think of myself as an expert on all the best surfing locations and the best cookery courses in Europe!
I’ve had an amazing time in the GoLearnTo office with Vanessa and the team, publishing Press Releases about all our fabulous courses, writing articles and spending one particularly chilly morning giving out flyers, wearing the particularly fetching GoLearnTo aprons. I honestly can’t thank the whole GoLearnTo crew enough for making me feel so welcome, and I helping me to get so much out of my Intern experience.
Finally, everyone in the office has been asking me to speak some Norwegian; unfortunately, while they all get the opportunity to put their language skills to good use – chatting away in Spanish and French on the phone – not many people appear want to speak Norwegian on the phone, so I’ve decided to oblige them with a quick grounding in some basics of Norwegian:
Hello – Hei
Goodbye – Hadet
My name is – Jeg heter
I’m from – Jeg kommer fra
Thank you – Takk
Excuse me – Unnskyld
Do you speak English? – Snakker du Engelsk?
How are you? – Hvordan går det?
Good morning – God morgen
And, of course the ever important:
One beer please – En øl takk
Tusen takk, GoLearnTo, og hadet!
