About the school

The cooking retreat is set in the foothills of the beautiful Alpilles mountain range. Passing through the 500 year old stone entrance you will discover the magnificent 14 acres of gardens, colours and aromas of Provencal rose gardens, olive trees, rosemary, thyme and lavender that surround the Ecole Gourmande.



In your lessons you will be guided through Provencal recipes with friendly and experienced French chef Pascal in his professional kitchen, the home of his celebrated restaurant.

With its own vineyard and herb gardens your French cooking lessons will also use much of the produce grown in the grounds to provide the freshest and finest ingredients.

You will soon understand why St Remy de Provence has been an inspiration to so many great artists and chefs over the years with the colourful and bustling markets or the clear blue night skies that were the inspiration for Van Gough's 'Starry Night'.

Your hosts will ensure a home from home, established for its exceptional hospitality, you will be assured personal attention with just 12 rooms the retreat offers the perfect combination of peace, luxury and a warm welcome.

On your time off you can relax in the gardens, swimming pool and Jacuzzi or just enjoy the wonderful food and atmosphere this enchanting part of France has to offer, perfect Provencal cookery holiday with a difference.

Car hire is recommended to reach the hotel and cooking school as there are no public transport options, a taxi takes between 45 minutes to 25 minutes depending on where you arrive.

A taxi from St Remy costs approximately €15, a taxi from Marseille costs around €125.
