Slow down to a Greek fishing village pace of life on a painting and drawing course and take time to appreciate the beauty of this area with its clear blue seas, verdant mountains and pretty blue and white houses.
This unique 7 night / 8 day painting holiday includes a 5 day painting and drawing course in Paleros on the mainland of Greece with views of the nearby Islands of Lefkas and Ithaka. Over 5 days of expert tuition, you’ll really develop your drawing and painting skills and will have the chance to try a number of different methods of painting whilst you develop your own personal interpretation of the beautiful Greek landscape.
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced artist, the course will be tailored to you to help improve your techniques, learn new painting and drawing skills and rapidly increase your confidence through expert tuition and advice at all levels.
Your painting and drawing tutor is the resident professional artist, Barbara who is extremely passionate about all things creative and has a wealth of experience teaching painting, drawing, stained glass, mosaics and even jewellery making.
Having previously studied for her art teaching degree in Amsterdam and worked in art and design in Holland, Barbara moved to Greece and exhibits her work in the village whilst sharing her passion for art by teaching visitors and locals alike.

- If you are travelling with a friend who does not wish to take part in the painting lessons, there are plenty of non-painting activities in the area
Painting Holiday Start Days
- There are set dates for these painting courses throughout the Summer but start days are flexible and if you can’t find the date you are looking for, we will do our best to accommodate you so please call us on 08445 020 445 or email with your request and you’ll be assured a quick response
- Please note that it is possible to take this painting course in the winter months however flights to Preveza stop in October so you would have to make your way overland by car or bus from Athens instead if you wish to travel between November and March, buses run regularly from Athens and cost 30 euros each way and take about 5 hours
Typical Painting Course Itinerary
Please note this itinerary is an example only and may change slightly due to time of year and weather conditions:
Day 1 - Arrival day
- Arrive in Paleros and check-in to your accommodation anytime after 2pm
- Please note that you’ll be allocated a twin/double room in a local apartment within walking distance of the artist studio and the exact name of the apartment will be given to you shortly after booking (see below for more details of the apartments)
Day 2 – Start of your painting course
- After dropping by the studio at 9am, you’ll take a short walk to the harbour area where you’ll relax over a morning coffee with the group to discuss your aims for the course and personal tuition needs
- After coffee, your tutor will help you set up your easel to start your first lesson at various locations around the village, the exact location depends on your requirements and may be by the harbour with a sea view, in the village so you can paint village life or even painting one of the pretty streets, the choice is yours
- After around 2-3 hours of painting and drawing, you’ll break for a drink, lunch and the afternoon are at your leisure
- You may wish to continue to paint on your own during the afternoon or take a break and relax or explore the local area
- Early evening, you are invited back to the studio for an hour or so to discuss your work with the group to get a different perspective on your work and your tutor will be on hand to answer any questions and guide you ready for your course on day 2
Day 3 - 6
- The rest of your course runs in a similar manner to your first day and you’ll start the morning at 9am meeting in the harbour cafe for your morning coffee before setting up in the location of your choice around the village
- After 2-3 hours of tuition each day, you’ll again break for free time before heading back to the studio early evening to discuss your work picking up tips and tricks to improve your skills and to develop your creativity
Day 7 – Free Day
- Today, relax and enjoy all that Paleros has to offer or take a boat trip and enjoy your free day in this beautiful location guaranteed to inspire the artist in you
Day 8 – Check Out
- Today is your last day in Paleros, you’ll be asked to check out by 10am taking home with you new painting and drawing skills that will inspire you to continue painting long after the holiday is over
- Note: extra nights can be added in the apartment if you wish to fit in with flights, prices approximately 40 Euros per person per night and can be added during the booking process
What Will I Learn On This Painting And Drawing Course?
- At the start of your course you will have the chance to discuss your own personal goals and aims for the course
- If you have some painting and drawing experience Barbara, will help you to develop your existing painting and drawing skills as well as giving you useful tips to help you develop new skills and techniques
- If you are a complete beginner Barbara will help you with the basics and will set you off on a path to developing your own artists personality
- Barbara will be on hand to advise you on light, space, lines, balance, weight, saturation, tone, shine and colour
- You’ll also learn how to eliminate creative blocks and draw out your unique painting style
- You are free to choose to paint in oils or watercolour, use crayons, pastels, pencil or any other medium you wish
- Over 5 days, take the opportunity to try new mediums if you wish under the expert guidance of Barbara
Painting And Drawing Equipment And Materials
- Drawing boards, white spirit and stools provided
- All other basic study equipment and materials such as watercolours, crayons, oil and acryl paint are also provided
- If you wish, you are free to bring more extended materials and equipment of your own to work with

Painting Holiday Accommodation
- You’ll stay in one of five carefully selected local family run apartments all of the same standard and all within a few minutes walking distance of the artist’s studio, please note that the apartments have been personally selected and inspected by your art tutor for their friendly hospitality and convenient location
- The course price includes accommodation for 7 nights / 8 days but you are welcome to extend the accommodation and stay on for additional nights at your leisure, extra nights can be added during the booking process
- The apartments are close to the harbour with lovely views, rooms are simply furnished in typical Greek style and are clean and comfortable
- You’ll have a twin or double room with private en-suite bathroom and there are NO single supplements as these painting holidays make great singles holidays
- The exact name of your apartment will be given to you shortly after booking as you’ll be allocated an available room in as soon as the course is booked
- There are different types of accommodation: mountain cottage and apartments
- Your hosts in the cottage have a cat and two dogs
- All accommodations are provided with Wi-fi
