About the location
Bouznika on Morocco’s North coast is a traditional town, away from the hubbub of the big cities further along the coast – making it the perfect place to get away from it all and indulge in the surf lifestyle. However, with Rabat and Casablanca just 45 minutes away in either direction along the coast, Bouznika is still an easy location to reach and also the perfect base for a day trip to the city.
Rabat in particular is a good place to explore as it is a small, quirky city with excellent markets and souks. It is the capital of Morocco and is also less of a tourist trap than some other cities in Morocco, with a more traditional feel which means you will not get hassled as you might elsewhere.
Bouznika itself is famous for its stalls selling street food and, of course, it’s surfing! Bouznika enjoys year-round warm weather which makes it a great winter destination with temperatures rarely falling below 20C/68F. The school operates for 9 months of the year between September and June, but is closed in July and August.
With its consistent waves and variety of breaks to suit both beginners and intermediates alike, Bouznika town’s crescent-shaped beach is a great place to enjoy a chilled out surf holiday. For the more advanced surfer, the school’s 4x4 also provides an opportunity to explore more of the local surf spots with 8 breaks within easy reach.
Your surf hosts, have years of experience teaching people to surf and are fully accredited by the British Surf Association. If you opt for the cooking classes alongside your surf holiday, local Moroccan Sanaa Belkhadra will be your cooking teacher and, as a native, she is able to provide you with a unique, hands-on insight into traditional local cuisine.
The school’s accommodation has the considerable benefit of being situated right on the beach, so you can literally hit the water whenever you fancy and the surf house also provides the focal point for socialising and cooking in the evenings.
