What Will I Learn?
Yoga
- The certified instructors offer a wide variety of approaches including Iyengar based Hatha Yoga, Power Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, and Anusara based classes
- Your yoga teacher will guide you through the postures designed to build strength, stamina, alignment and to rebalance your body after the exertion of surfing
- Enjoy practicing yoga in various settings both in the studio and outside to help you get the most out of your Costa Rica holiday
- Yoga mats are provided or you are welcome to bring your own
Surfing
- Safety issues
- How to handle the board in the water
- Where to position yourself at sea
- How to clear the breaking zone and deal with white water
- How to stand and lie on the board
- Line up positioning
- How to paddle to catch the waves
- Techniques to clear the break point and surge to the crest of the wave
Optional Excursions
- There is so much to see and do around the area of Jaco Beach
- You can choose to take a field trip kayaking and snorkelling along the coast and a waterfall hike to the 'Three Pools'
- A variety of marine life can be seen around the reefs including tropical fish, lobster, corals, and much more
- Other optional excursions include visits to the Rainforest or a Crocodile River tour
- You will have plenty of time to kick back on the surf beaches and relax or practice your new found skills
Class Schedule
- Yoga and Surf classes take place Monday to Friday each week
- Yoga classes take place at 7am every day apart from Wednesday when they are held at 6.30pm or 8pm
- Your yoga classes last 1.5 hours each
- Yoga classes will be taken on the beach, in the gardens or in the yoga studio
- Your surfing lessons fit around the tides and the best times to surf and are usually held at 4pm daily but this can change depending on the weather conditions
- Surfing classes last 1-2 hours depending on your fitness level and take place at the best surf points for the weather conditions
- All transportation to local surf spots is included
Equipment
- All equipment needed for both surfing and yoga will be provided
- This school has many surf boards to choose from varying in sizes
- If you are a complete beginner, you can use a board with higher volume and float during the first few days, switching to a smaller, more manoeuvrable board as you improve
Other Information
- Please bring a swimming costume and towel
- Wear comfortable clothes that allow movement for your yoga classes
Optional Extras
- Surf boards can be hired when you are not taking lessons so that you can practice your new found surfing skills in your free time

- This school offers a choice of Home Stay or Shared House accommodation; you can add this during the booking process

Weather Conditions
- Your safety is paramount and if the weather conditions do not permit safe surfing, the school reserves the right to cancel a surf class.
